Sales Engineer, Data Products

 

IDC is seeking a Sales Engineer to focus on business development and new sales of the next generation of IDC’s industry-leading data products. The Sales Engineer is a key technical advisor and product advocate, responsible for driving sales and market share by providing top-tier technical expertise to customers. This role involves working closely with the sales team to identify customer needs, develop appropriate solutions, and ensure a seamless integration of company products and services.

Responsibilities






  • Act as a technical resource for the sales team, providing detailed product and application knowledge.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and technical training for customers and internal teams.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, offering technical guidance and solutions.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical proposals and presentations to customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their technical requirements and business objectives.
  • Provide post-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction and successful product implementation.
  • Gather and communicate customer feedback to improve product offerings and service quality.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and advancements in technology.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and features by providing customer insights and technical feedback.
  • Participate in trade shows, conferences, and other industry events to promote products and network with potential customers.
  • Coordinate with engineering and product development teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products and solutions.
  • Manage technical aspects of customer projects, including planning, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Ensure all customer interactions and technical issues are documented in the CRM system.








Qualifications






  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or related field).  
  • 7+ years of experience in a client facing role such as Pre-Sales Engineer, Implementations, Technical Solutions, in a related industry. (with preference for experience with data solutions) 
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with experience presenting technical concepts and/or software to senior level business users.
  • Strong proficiency in CRM and Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and modelling.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Sales Professional, PMP) are a plus.
  • Customer-oriented approach with a focus on building lasting relationships.
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into understandable terms for diverse audiences.
  • This role can be based out of our Needham, MA office or an approved  U.S. remote location.
